LG&T Tennis Challenger

May 20, 2010 01:48 PM

The 17th Annual Levene, Gouldin & Thompson (LG&T) Tennis Challenger will take place at Recreation Park in Binghamton from August 7-15, 2010. The LG&T Tennis Challenger is a $50,000 USTA Men's Pro Circuit Event. It is 9 days of high-level tennis, and it takes place just before the U.S. Open. Over the years, the LG&T Tennis Challenger has proven to be a great stage for professionals from all over the world, as they get tuned up for the Open.

Tournament Director Laurie Bowen and her team from Tennis Charities of Binghamton, Inc. are looking for volunteers. All shifts are three hours long and consist of working set up/clean up, ticket sales, food service, and/or VIP events. Drivers are also needed to transport the players from Recreation Park to their accommodations and back.

The Tournament Staff appreciates any and all help from volunteers, but they are most in need of people to help set things up in advance of the Tournament (beginning Monday, August 2) and to help clean up and take things down on August 15 (after the Championship matches conclude) through August 18.

Those who commit to volunteering for multiple shifts will receive the following incentives:

  • 6 hours of volunteer time = tournament pass
  • 2 hours of volunteer time = tournament pass and a t-shirt
  • 24 hours of volunteer time = tournament pass, a t-shirt, and a hat

If you are interested in volunteering and/or have questions, please contact Rebecca Stollman, Volunteer Coordinator, at rlstollman@yahoo.com, stollman@binghamton.edu, or by phone at 607-765-2584.

Tennis Charities of Binghamton, Inc. is one the winners of the 2010 President’s Suite Promotion. In addition, they are sponsoring a raffle for a pair of tickets to a New York Yankees baseball game.
