Another Successful Season for Mynderse Academy Tennis

Mynderse Academy Tennis Team

The Mynderse Academy (High School) Blue Devils Girls' Tennis team just completed another successful season with a 12-1 record.  Unfortunately, they suffered their only loss in the Sectional finals to arch-rival East Rochester, the team that Mynderse defeated to win their first Sectional Championship in 2008.
The team finished 10-0 in the regular season to become the first undefeated team ever coached by Mike Marriam, who has been coaching the Girls’ Tennis Team at Mynderse since 1998 and the Boys’ Varsity Tennis Team since 1980.
In addition, three girls advanced to the New York State Qualifiers in Rochester.  Kayla Kline advanced to the event for a third time and Megan Allen (sophomore) and Kate Fragnoli made it for the second time in their high school careers.
Much of the recent success of the tennis programs at Mynderse can be attributed to the efforts of Marriam and his assistants.  The Boys’ Tennis team has won three League Championships and five Sectional titles in the last 8 years, and the Girls’ Junior Varsity team finished the 2008 season undefeated.

Coach Marriam and his staff practice a no-cut philosophy, going the extra mile to make both the Girls’ and Boys’ Tennis programs a success.  They began to offer a summer program in 2004 that has grown each year.  They have also worked hard to maintain the Junior Varsity teams and fought to secure a Modified Girls’ Tennis Team.  They also provide opportunities for their athletes to compete in tennis matches during the winter in a league they help coordinate at Champions for Life Sports Center in Auburn.

Congratulations to the Mynderse Academy Girls’ Tennis Program for their continued success.
