Multiple tennis teams from the western New York area, encompassing dozens of local United States Tennis Association (USTA) players, showed off their racquet skills at the 2007 USTA League Tennis Eastern Sectionals, held August 10-12 and August 17-19 in Syracuse.

The annual tennis tournament which attracts hundreds of players from across New York State was showcased with local talent. The following teams earned a spot to compete in the tournament after first winning local and regional USTA competition. Women: Conti, 2.5, Littlewood, 3.5, Krycia, 4.0, and Nagy, 5.0. Men: Heckman, 3.5, Pfeifer, 4.0. The Conti 2.5 and Nagy 5.0 teams capitalized on their opportunity to compete, each earning a chance to play at the USTA League Tennis Nationals in Palm Springs, California in September.

USTA League Tennis is the country’s largest recreational tennis league totaling more than 295,000 players nationwide. A league participant must compete at his or her individual skill level, which ensures competitive tennis for both the beginner and experienced player. Local USTA adult Men’s and Women’s leagues run throughout the spring and summer months, working closely with the Buffalo Niagara Community Tennis Association (BNCTA). Congratulations goes out to the all the teams who won local USTA competition in their division enabling them to compete at USTA regional competition held August 3-4 in Syracuse. Women: Conti, 2.5, McClaren, 3.0; Littlewood, 3.5, Krycia, 4.0; Bogumil, 4.5, and Nagy, 5.0. Men: Johnson, 3.0, Heckman, 3.5, Pfeifer, 4.0, Litto, 4.5, Heberlein. Master Women: 3.5, Tesseyman, 4.0, Hepp, Master Men 3.0, DeLellis, 3.5, Nichols, 4.0, Heberlein, Grand Master Women 7.0, Wrotniak, Grand Master Men 6.0, DeLellis, 7.0 and Nichols, Grand Master Men 8.0.
