JTT Buffalo Kicks Off the Winter Season

JTT Buffalo held a Kickoff Event on Sunday, January 12 at South Towns Tennis Club in Orchard Park.  The event attracted more than 100 attendees, including 65 USTA Jr. Team Tennis (JTT) players, along with parents, volunteers, and coaches.

The evening began with food and beverages and an informational meeting conducted by Area League Coordinator (ALC) Kathy Connelly.  That was followed by JTT match practice play and drill clinics on all 6 courts at South Towns Tennis Club.  USTA National Trainer Michelle Skelley conducted a presentation for parents that included information on 10 and Under Tennis.

All of the players in the League received t-shirts and wristbands courtesy of Buffalo Niagara Community Tennis Association (BNCTA).

The mission of JTT Buffalo is to encourage kids to have fun, be active, grow in self-esteem, and enjoy a positive team experience.  As one enthusiastic JTT participant noted, “I am excited to be able to play tennis and be part of a team!!”

There are over 100 players signed up for the Winter League, and matches will begin in February.  Winning teams from all four divisions (10U, 12U, 14U, and 18U) will have the opportunity to advance to Regional, Sectional, and for the 14U and 18U divisions, National competition.  There will also be a Summer JTT League that will begin in June.

A big thank you to Mike Manzella and the pros and staff from South Towns Tennis Club, along with all of the volunteers and coaches that made this event such a success and provide the opportunity for youth in the area to participate in JTT.
