River Rock Hosts Annual Thanksgiving Tournament

RRTEA -- Mixed Doubles Champions
RRTEA Thanksgiving Tennis Tournament

After a Thanksgiving Day filled with plenty of food, time with family, and a Black Friday full of shopping, why not spend the Saturday evening of Thanksgiving weekend on the tennis court? River Rock Tennis and Education Association (RRTEA) volunteers thought it was a good idea, so they decided to host the second annual RRTEA Family Thanksgiving Doubles Tennis Tournament on Saturday, November 27 at the Village Glen Tennis Club in Williamsville.

The event is sponsored by USTA Eastern and the Buffalo Niagara Community Tennis Association (BNCTA).

Forty-eight players registered for the Tournament, competing in five divisions.  Al Pawlinski and his son Brandon won the Men’s 4.0 Division. Al Pawlinski also came out on top in the Mixed Doubles division, teaming up with Liz Briceno.  The event was truly a family affair as Alexandria Briceno (Liz’s daughter) won the Women’s 2.5 Division with partner Jill Kirby. Angela Indelicato and Terry Donahue were champions of the Women’s 3.5 Division. Jamar Brooks and Justin Roe claimed the title in the Men’s 2.5 division.

Many thanks go out to Tournament sponsors, participants, and to the Village Glen Tennis Club for making it a successful event.  With their support, River Rock Tennis and Education Association (RRTEA) can continue to move forward in its mission of building community and healthy families one racquet at a time.
