Effective Planning for your CTA Workshop Hosted by GETA

GETA Hosts Board Development Workshop
On Saturday, March 26, Greater Elmira Tennis Association (GETA) hosted a CTA Development Session. The 4-hour workshop entitled, ‘Effective Planning for your CTA,’ is part of the overall curriculum developed by the USTA’s Learning & Leadership Development Department.
Jenny Irwin, USTA Eastern’s Tennis Service Representative (TSR) for the Northern Region, conducted the workshop as a member of the USTA Adjunct Faculty.
The objectives of the ‘Effective Planning for your CTA’ workshop revolve around strategic planning and how to link the plan to a CTA’s vision, mission, and goals. In addition, topics of discussion include identifying the traits of a successful planning team, describing the elements of a good plan, best ways to implement, evaluate, and sustain the plan, and how to turn a good plan into a dynamic plan.
GETA’s mission is ‘to promote the development of tennis as a means of healthful recreation and a lifetime of physical fitness for all age groups.’ GETA Board Members and Volunteers coordinate several programs for youth and adults in Elmira, Corning, Horseheads, and the surrounding communities. For more information on GETA events, programs, membership, and volunteer opportunities, visit their web site at www.getatennis.com
The USTA Learning & Leadership Development Department and the USTA Adjunct Faculty provide resources and support in three main areas: CTA Development, Advocacy, and Growing Tennis Through Outreach and Inclusion. If you are interested in learning more about how these opportunities could benefit your organization, please contact Joe Steger, USTA Eastern’s TSR for the Western Region at steger@eastern.usta.com.
