RRTEA Hosts Youth Registration Night
River Rock Tennis and Education Association (RRTEA) hosted a Tennis Night in America Youth Registration event at the Nazareth Lutheran Church Gymnasium in Buffalo on Friday, March 11.  The event was sponsored by USTA Eastern, Buffalo Niagara Community Tennis Association (BNCTA), and City of Buffalo Councilmember Joseph Golombek.
For the second consecutive year, the event took place on a wintry evening. However, winds gusting at over forty miles per hour did not prevent families from coming out to enjoy the festivities. The blustery weather had everyone thinking about playing tennis this summer on the courts at Riverside Park in Buffalo.
The event featured a carnival with several games and activities that utilized the QuickStart Tennis (QST) play format. The competition for the longest rally was a highlight of the event. In the end, USTA Jr. Team Tennis player Aaron Lane and RRTEA President/Event Organizer Marsha Huard topped the competition with a 59 shot rally.
Everyone enjoyed the pizza and refreshments, and all in attendance received a gift bag. Sign ups took place throughout the evening for all of RRTEA’s summer programs, including the QST Camp, USTA Jr. Team Tennis, and the Family Tennis Lesson program. RRTEA will next host a Block Party to kickoff the outdoor tennis season on May 21 at Riverside Park.
